Araumi Daiko vzw practices taiko, the art of Japanese drumming.
Its purpose is to spread the joy of life and energy of the taiko.
Araumi Daiko does this by giving taiko lessons and workshops, giving performances with her three performance groups, of which Feniks Taiko is the showpiece, and organizing projects and concerts with other artists.
Practicing Taiko looks intense. Yet the essence of taiko lies not in the power with which you strike, but in the common precision with which you tap the drums with your group. Taiko is a fun way to make a physical effort.
The taiko boot camps / workshops are given by an experienced supervisor, namely Grete Moortgat. Grete has lived in Japan for years and learned taiko from real grandmasters. Once back in Belgium, Araumi Daiko was founded and Grete gave the very first taiko performances ever in Belgium. With the founder of taiko in Belgium as your teacher, you are assured of high-quality guidance!
