A great combination of flying and ATC session on May 18, 2022

On May 18 last, together with Rob, I did a combination of a flying session and then an ATC session, in which extremely effective communication and a cold/dark start within a certain time were an important learning goal this time around. Using that checklist, which Rob went through extensively with me, he taught me to discover the positioning of the relevant instruments, especially those on the overhead panel. A short run of 10 minutes. Then the pushback from the gate to runway 24. The flight target was EHRD. During the flight a lot of aviation related and procedural communication took place.
The landing went well and to Rob's satisfaction. I still had a bit too much speed for the rollout to taxi from the runway to the taxiway. However, it turned out to be a virtual lawn mowing, a sad fact. However, I was able to look back on this flying session with satisfaction and great pleasure. Then the ATC session at the radar station. The communication was already a lot better and smoother than in September 2021. In the process I got more and more routine and it became more and more fun. In the end I noticed that my concentration on the information on the many screens was starting to decrease and I indicated that. With some extra explanation, Rob concluded the session and also expressed his satisfaction with the whole and gave some useful tips for the next sessions, which I think will certainly come. I really enjoyed it and am still enjoying it. On the basis of two files sent, I can carry out further study to get to know the on-board equipment even better, in terms of positioning and to be able to go through the flight plan even better. Op 18 mei jl. samen met Rob een combi van een vliegsessie en vervolgens een ATC sessie ondernomen, waarbij een uiterst effectieve communicatie en een cold/dark start binnen een bepaalde tijd als belangrijk leerdoel deze keer extra centraal stond. Aan de hand van die checklist, die Rob met mij uitgebreid doornam, leerde hij mij de positionering van de desbetreffende instrumenten, vooral die op het overheadpanel ontdekken. Een kleine uitloop van 10 minuten. Vervolgens de pushback vanaf de gate naar runway 24. Het vliegdoel was EHRD. Tijdens de vlucht werd heel veel luchtvaart gerelateerd en procedureel gecommuniceerd.
De landing verliep goed en naar tevredenheid van Rob. ik had nog wel wat teveel snelheid voor de uitrol om daarmee van de baan te taxiën naar de taxiway. Het werd echter een virtuele grasmaaibeurt, een jammerlijk feitje. Maar toch mocht ik wel met tevredenheid en veel plezier terugkijken op deze vliegsessie. Vervolgens de ATC sessie bij het radarstation. De communicatie verliep al een stuk beter en vlotter dan in september 2021. Al doende kreeg ik er steeds meer routine in en werd het steeds leuker. Op het laatst merkte ik dat mijn concentratie op de informatie op de vele schermen wat begon af te nemen en dat gaf ik aan. Met nog wat extra uitleg rondde Rob de sessie af en uitte ook zijn tevredenheid over het geheel en gaf nog wat bruikbare tips mee voor de volgende sessies, die er wat mij betreft zeker wel gaan komen. Ik heb echt super genoten en zit nog steeds na te genieten. Aan de hand van een tweetal toegestuurde bestanden kan ik weer verder studiewerk verrichten om de boordapparatuur nog beter te leren kennen, qua positionering en ook het vliegplan nog beter te kunnen doorlopen. Hartelijke dank, beste Rob, voor je geweldige bijdrage. Ik waardeer het zeer en word steeds blij van je immer energieke uitstraling.
