The City of Bruges is organising a selection procedure for recruitment, promotion, internal staff mobility and external staff mobility for Expert Protocol and Events in Communication and City Marketing (salary scale B1-B3 - deadline BEFORE 19 November 2024).

Job description:

The Communications & City Marketing Department is looking for a Protocol and Events Expert.


To promote the hospitable image of the City of Bruges by efficiently and stylishly participating in the organisation of various events on behalf of the city council with (prominent) guests and by taking care of and optimising the associated administration for these (protocol) events and/or the own service.

  • Developing an action plan and/or retro planning is part of your duties
  • Prospecting and following up suppliers (contact, quotes, implementation, etc.) and in this way developing a network to strengthen/support the team
  • Stock management of the event material (as well as monitoring the correct maintenance of the material)
  • Support other city services in their logistics and/or complete organization of an event
  • Prepare and carry out representation assignments (including public speaking)
  • Providing advice to cabinets, city services and external clients regarding official receptions or inaugurations, the course of a ceremony, etc.
  • Colleagues help with making goodie bags, setting up information markets, transporting event material for the service
  • Identify, discuss and develop project-based needs of the service (training, infrastructure, logistics, etc.)
  • Management of allocated budget
  • Logistical and/or overall coordination of the event
  • Actively participate in the logistical production at the event, including:
  • Assembly and disassembly, placing chairs, tables, information walls, etc., laying power cables, loading and unloading the van...

Profile

  • You have a Bachelor's degree

OR

  • You do not have a Bachelor's degree but you do have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. You document the requested work experience extensively in your CV and/or motivation letter
  • You are in possession of a driving license B; if you do not have a forklift certificate, you are willing to obtain one during your career.
  • You have knowledge of planning tools and are an expert in arranging matters for events
  • Stress is not a word you know, and it will never take over when arranging events, and changes in planning ensure that you remain alert to all kinds of things.
  • You are someone who works in a very structured and meticulous manner with an eye for detail
  • Flexible working hours are not an obstacle because, as you know, events are often held at times when people are free from work (think of weekends, holidays, vacation periods, later hours (evenings))
  • You want to gain more in-depth knowledge of protocol rules and etiquette, including protocol rank, flagging, honorary decorations, etc.
  • You are a very skilled communicator, speaking in public and with your teammates is no problem at all
  • Respect for official ethics and deontology requires great discretion

* Final year students are also admitted to the selection procedure if they add a certificate of study from the current year to their application. They must then submit the requested diploma no later than the date of their entry into service.

  • We offer you a full-time contract position for an indefinite period.
  • Your starting salary depends on any seniority that may be transferred. All work experience with another government is transferred. Up to 5 years of your relevant work experience in the private sector or as a self-employed person is transferred.
  • If you have no experience in government service, your starting salary for this position is between € 3030.88 (without seniority) and € 3589.21 (with 5 years of relevant seniority) gross for a full-time employment. During your employment, your salary will continue to grow via fixed scales to a maximum salary of € 5054.37.

What does the selection procedure look like?

This selection procedure consists of a number of different tests:

  • Pre-selection (submit document with application!) We will assess your application based on the completed pre-selection
  • Information session interviews 3/12/2024 - 4/12/2024 (job content information that will be given)
  • Preparatory case 6/12/2024 -12/12/2024
  • oral test + case - 17/12/2024 -18/12/2024
  • psychotechnical test (+level & capacity test) - week of 6/01/2025


You may or may not be selected for further participation in the procedure based on a prior pre-selection.
