Cisco Pulls Plug on Webex Events

Cisco has announced the integration of Webex Events into its Webex Suite, effective next Monday, marking a strategic shift from standalone offerings to a more integrated solution.

This move aims to cater to enterprise needs by combining communication and event management tools into a single platform suitable for a variety of event sizes and types.

Support and Transition for Existing Customers

Cisco will continue supporting current Webex Events users until April 30, 2025. Those with existing contracts can transition to the Webex Suite, ensuring seamless service continuity. After April 29, 2024, Cisco will no longer renew standalone contracts but will maintain platform access for an additional 90 days post-contract.

Evolution of Webex Events

Initially launched as Socio in 2016, the platform evolved significantly, particularly during the Covid pandemic, transitioning to a full-scale virtual event solution. Acquired by Cisco in May 2021 and rebranded as Webex Events, this integration represents a strategic enhancement to Cisco's unified communications and event solutions.

It's the end of an era for many event planners who used Webex Events for many of their events.
