Breakthrough for Ticketing: What Ticketmaster's New Commitment Means

The summer of 2024 will bring good news for consumers. Ticketmaster, one of the largest ticket sellers, has made major commitments that will dramatically change the way tickets are resold.

Following an investigation by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), Ticketmaster has decided to allow consumers to resell their tickets through other resale platforms. At least in the Netherlands. This is an important step that not only promotes competition.

Legislation and background

Until recently, Ticketmaster tickets could only be resold via Ticketmaster's own platform. This restriction was imposed to prevent fraud, but it also brought problems. Consumers had less choice and other resale platforms were disadvantaged, leading to less competition and ultimately higher costs and worse terms for consumers.

The ACM investigation has led to a commitment from Ticketmaster to remove these obstacles. This means consumers can now resell their tickets through any resale platform of their choice, increasing competition and giving consumers more options.

As an event organizer, it is important to stay informed of these changes and inform your customers about the new possibilities. Make sure you partner with multiple resale platforms to offer your customers the best options and ensure the authenticity of your tickets.
