The Technics SL-1200 signifies pure nostalgia. For decades it was the prime turntable in every DJ booth on every event. Where now you can see the Pioneer CDJ-2000 just about everywhere, the Technics SL-1200 used to reign in the old days.
But there's some good news for the fans... The Technics SL-1200 turntables by Panasonic are finally re-entering the market after 6 years. This was announced at the CES exposition in Las Vegas. In honour of the 50th anniversary of Technics, 1200 limited editions will be produced, called the '50th Anniversary Grand Class SL-1200 GA'. By the end of 2016 the normal collection will also make its return. The price has not yet been announced, but is said to be around a couple of thousand euros.
In the event industry, vinyl is also making a comeback. You can book vinyl DJs, who give that extra authentic touch to your event. Perfect for a more intimate event or for taking it to the next level. Vinyl has a peculiar sound, which digital music cannot reproduce, according to the fans.
Vinyl records are much at home on an event where nostalgia is key. So bring in the retro barbers and whiskey!
